Downhill Skiing

Haliburton Forest

Haliburton Forest is located 10 min by car from the cottage, and features wilderness adventure activities including:

  • The wolf centre
  • Mountain biking
  • Hiking
  • Astronomy
  • Wildlife observation
  • "A Walk in the Clouds" guided tree-top forest canopy tour
  • Snowmobiling
  • Dogsledding

*the "walk in the clouds" is especially popular, and books up very quickly. We suggest that if you are interested, you book it at the same time that you book the cottage, in order to avoid being disappointed! Contact (705) 754-2198

Outdoors adventures

Find adventures all year round such as dog sledding, snowmobiling, hiking, etc.

Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing

The are plenty of snowshoe and crosscountry trails in the area. You can find information for cross-country ski trails, weather conditions, etc. at the websites below.

The closest snowshoe trails are the Kennissis Crest and Circuit of 5 Viewpoints (within 10minute drive), although there are many others within a reasonable driving distance.

The closest crosscountry skiing would be Moosewood (?~20min away) and Gliebe (~30min).

Equipment Rentals (Snowshoes, cross country skiis, snowmobiles)

Snowshoe rentals and crosscountry ski rentals are available in Haliburton at Sharpley's Source for Sports, 705-457-3933, you can pass right by it on the way to our cottage.

With respect to snowmobile rentals, there is a rental operation 5 minutes from our cottage at the Kennissis Lake Marina. In addition, the Haliburton Forest (see above) rents snowmobiles for use on their trail system.
