Q. How private is the property?

A. Serenity Cottage is located on a fully wooded 2 acre lot. The pre-existing foliage has been supplemented by newly planted evergreens to provide full privacy while enjoying yourself on the deck or hot tub.

Q. Will we need to bring dishes and cutlery?

A. No. We provide everything you need in the kitchen except consumables. Bring your own paper towels, dishwasher detergent, etc.

Q. Is the tap water safe to drink?

A. Yes, Georgian Bay is a very clean lake. In addition, for added purity, we have had a UV sterilized/carbon filtration system installed.

Q. Will linens/towels be provided?

A. No. We provide blankets, comforters, and pillows, but you will need to bring your own bed sheets, pillow cases, kitchen towels, bath towels, etc.

Q. Is there a dishwasher, and a washer & dryer?

A. Yes, we offer all 3 for your convenience.

Q. Can we bring our pet?

A. Dogs are welcome (must have proof of flea treatment), but please be respectful of our cottage, and remove all animal hair before you leave. One of the owners is highly allergic to cats, so we are afraid we cannot invite you to bring your feline friend along. Thanks.

Q. Can we smoke in the cottage?

A. No, we ask smokers to smoke outside. We are adamant about this request.

Q. What is the beach and lake bottom like?

A. The beach and lakebottom consist of flat rock and pebbled rock. It is a very gradual walk into the deeper water.

Is the lake water nice to swim in?

A. Yes, it is a beautiful, clean, slightly turquoise coloured lake.

Q. Is there a shallow area for young children?

A. There is a gradual slope into the deeper water---fine for young children.

Q. Is there good fishing on Georgian Bay?

A. Yes, the lake has very good fishing. Some of the species of fish that can be caught there are trout, perch, whitefish, pickerel, and bass.

Q. Should we bring our own life jackets?

A. Yes. We do provide a limited selection of life jacket sizes. However, for your safety, we ask you to bring your own life jackets, as they will fit you properly.

Q. We want to bring our own boat up. Is there a marina nearby where we can launch it?

A. There is a marina in Owen Sound. You may visit their website at www.owensoundmarina.com.

Q. Should we bring our food up with us or buy it up there?

A. Owen Sound has markets in town, so you can either do your grocery shopping there, or bring groceries with you.
