Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing
The are plenty of snowshoe and crosscountry trails in the area. This site lists them all: www.trailsandtours.com/snow.php.
The closest snowshoe trails are the Kennissis Crest and Circuit of 5 Viewpoints (within 10minute drive), although there are many others within a reasonable driving distance.
The closest crosscountry skiing would be Moosewood (?~20min away) and Gliebe (~30min).
Sir Sam's ski hill is ~20min away from our cottage.
Equipment Rentals (Snowshoes, cross country skiis, snowmobiles)
Snowshoe rentals and crosscountry ski rentals are available in Haliburton at Sharpley's Source for Sports, 705-457-3933, you can pass right by it on the way to our cottage.
With respect to snowmobile rentals, there is a rental operation 5minutes from our cottage at the Kennissis Lake Marina, www.skidoorentals.com. Our cottage is in very close proximity to the major trail systems, www.hcsa.on.ca/map.html (we are situated close to trail #11), see http://www.hcsa.on.ca/ for more details.
